College of Business First-Year Experience
In the College of Business, we're serious about your success during your college career and beyond. Forging relationships and getting a little extra personal attention early on are high priorities of the college. Upon arrival, you'll even be paired with a Sophomore in the College of Business who'll act as your mentor until you're comfortably immersed into the program.
In your first semester's BUSI 105 course, you and the rest of your class are split into two sections, which are then split into two groups. Each group is made up of about 10 or 12 students. Group activities include learning your way around campus -- Herrick Memorial Library, Student Services, the Center for Academic Success, the Writing Center, the Career Development Center, etc. -- and attending seminars where you'll learn from speakers representing various areas of business. Activities are fun and interactive.
As a successful student in the College of Business, you'll compose a weekly journal entry, recording and reflecting on what you learn in class each week. Finally, the last class of your second semester culminates with a group presentation on what you learned in your first year at Alfred University.
