Robert Beyer
Bob Beyer played three seasons with Alfred’s basketball team, serving as an assistant coach during his senior year before graduating with his BA in history and minors in coaching, writing, and secondary education. He continued his education at the University of Albany where, as a graduate student, he was an assistant coach for the Albany Great Danes men’s basketball team.
After earning his master’s degree in curriculum planning and development, he pursued numerous assistant coaching positions for Siena College, University of Wisconsin, Northwestern University, and Texas Tech. He has also worked as an assistant coach in the NBA for the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic, the Golden State Warriors, and the Charlotte Bobcats. In 2014, he was one of three assistant coaches hired to work for Stan Van Gundy, the Head Coach of the Detroit Pistons. He was promoted to Head Coach and continues to work with this team.
